The 11 Best Fitness Apps For Women
There are so many fitness apps on the market nowadays it’s hard to keep up with them all. Some focus on challenges, some are best for home gyms versus being at the gym, and many cover nutrition as well. Below are, in my opinion, the best fitness apps for women.
Best Pregnancy Fitness Apps
This is by far one of my favorite apps for pre-partum, pregnancy, and postpartum health, wellness, and fitness. It truly has it all. From trying to conceive to dealing with numerous postpartum issues such as diastasis recti, there are on demand videos that go across yoga, barre, strength, sweat, meditation, and more.
However, this app is way more than just a workout. It has numerous educational videos as well about your pelvic floor, how to prep for labor, and nutritional guidelines. There even are a few series surrounding grief and how to move through it.

Best Running Apps
This is my personal favorite running app, but I’d recommend being somewhat of a runner already before making this your go to. There are guided runs for numerous distances and there are training programs for 5ks, 10ks, half-marathons and more. You can also choose your distance, time, or speed for a free run and link it up to you favorite audio app (such as Spotify). My only drawback about this app is that sometimes in the guided runs the running coaches simply talk too much.
Cost: Free
This app is one of the best running apps out there in terms of GPS and keeping times. Many running clubs and organizations use this app for challenges and races. Another nice pro is It’s easy to join groups in your area. If you like to do more than run, this app is also a huge win for cyclists, swimmers, and even if you’re up for walking or hiking. I personally use it to track my walks with my dog to know how many miles we’ve walked and keep track of our new walking paths.

Best On Demand Fitness Apps
There are not enough good things to say about this app. I truly believe this is one of the best fitness apps for women. It has what feels like unlimited on demand videos across running, stretching, yoga, HIIT, strength, meditation and more. There’s also some great content if you're pregnant.
Beyond that, the nutritional guidelines and recipes here really helped me understand how to eat healthy and understand how my body reacts to certain foods. One of the biggest pros here is the community. The Tone It Up community is incredibly supportive and always there to help you out!

This is one of the best at home fitness apps around. This app is actually what helped me originally start getting into running. You can choose numerous types of workouts, your length of time, trainer and more - just plug in your headphones and go.

This was started by Kayla Itsines among others and has evolved into an app that includes hundreds of on demand videos, trainers to follow, or programs to level up your strength! To be honest, I found it hard to get into this app because I felt like I wasn’t strong enough to do many of the exercises that were in the videos. But having said that, many women love this app above all else - it really is down to personal choice!
Cost: 7 day free trial; $19.99 monthly
Peloton has moved way beyond just being a bike or treadmill. Its popularity is extremely well known across the United States. Good news though, you don’t need to commit to the bike, treadmill, or rower to use the app. The on demand videos can be filtered by time and type of workout. The main difference between this app and others though is there are 2 tiers of subscriptions, the cheaper one is for yoga, running and gym, well the other tier is the full app access.
Cost: Free trial; $12.99 monthly, full access for $24 monthly / annual pricing also available
This app is a one stop shop for health and wellness and is good for beginners. It covers workouts, nutrition, and mindfulness. Workouts include HIIT, running, pilates, strength, and more. There’s also a great community for support.

Glo has up to 18 different styles of yoga to explore. There are over 8,000 on demand videos, there’s also meditation, pilates, and a 1:1 concierge to deepen your practice. As it states on their website it’s the “Netflix for Yoga”. There are on demand videos, live classes, courses, events in person, and more. No matter what your favorite type of workout is, I always recommend doing a weekly yoga class to help with mobility. This is a great place to start!
